Figure 2-1, in Chapter 2-3: Shortly after NASA announced that Lunar Prospector had been selected by the NASA Discovery Program for flight, this PR photograph of the principles was taken in front of the full-scale engineering model of the Discovery Proposal version of the Lunar Prospector Spacecraft. Left to right are: Scott Hubbard, the NASA/Ames Project Manager; the author and Lunar Prospector Principal Investigator; and Domenick Tenerelli, the Lockheed Project Manager (Lockheed Martin photograph). Figure 2-2, in Chapter 2-3: This oblique overhead shot of the full-scale engineering model of the Discovery Proposal version of the Lunar Prospector Spacecraft shows clearly the scale of the spacecraft and science instrument booms. The Gamma-Ray Spectrometer (GRS) is on the science instrument boom to the lower right; the Alpha Particle Spectrometer (APS, the instrument at the end of the boom) and the Neutron Spectrometer (NS, the silvery cylinders somewhat near to the spacecraft than is the APS) are on the science boom extending to the lower left; the Magnetometer (MAG) and Electron Reflectometer (ER) are on the science boom extending to the back. NASA/Ames Project Manager, Scott Hubbard is on the right of the spacecraft and behind the GRS boom. Lockheed Project Manager; Domenick Tenerelli is to the left and in front of the model. The author and Lunar Prospector Principle Investigator is in the middle and in front of the model (Lockheed Martin photograph). View image
